  • Shadowbox js on Category Page?

    I'm using Shadowbox js on quite a few places on my site, including product listing pages, and have no problem. However, I'm not able to get it to work on the category pages. Are we able to use anything like that on those pages? Before I dig deeper into it, just wanted to make sure it wasn't for naught. :)

    Yes, you can definitely do it. Not sure why it might be tricky, but it do-able.

      Thanks--while I'm on the subject, does anyone else have issues with Shadowbox working sometimes and not others? Is there a better alternative??? I'm really at my wits end with this thing. It will work fine one minute, and without changing a thing it stops working. Getting VERY frustrated!

        I've been happy with Colorbox. It's very versatile. See my implementation Kinetic Road Machine Fluid Trainer - AEBike.com for image and youtube popups. I also use it for messaging popups (see view cart page)

          I'm just wondering if I'll have the same issues with plug in too--it works fine, and then it doesn't, and then it does . . . so frustrating!

            I absolutely cannot get it to work on the category pages--I'm using the same code that is used on many other pages, but this one has me stumped. Here is an example of one category page:

            Swarovski Rhinestone Bridal Veils

            If you try the 2nd photo, it just enlarges, and here is the code:

            <a href="assets/images/RWD/Veils/Rhinestones/Rhinestone.jpg" rel="shadowbox"><img src="assets/images/RWD/Veils/Rhinestones/Rhinestone-thumb.jpg" alt="Rhinestone Veil Video" style="" border="0" /></a>

              Can you get other javascript to work? I admit I have never tried a shadowbox on the category pages, but I have done other fairly complicated JS, including SearchSpring results, so I don't see why it would be any different than other pages.

              Do you have a link to a page? Is it throwing an error?

                I did get it to work on the category page . . . and then it didn't. For no reason. The whole site worked great last night, but this morning, didn't work again. Doesn't matter if I access it from the admin or from a fresh browser page, with cache cleared on both the site and browser.

                I'll be the first to admit that I know just enough to be dangerous, however, the installation instructions for shadowbox.js were so simple:

                (Quote) The simplest way to set up Shadowbox is to include the JavaScript and CSS files in the <head> of your document (web page) and then call Shadowbox.init, like this:

                <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="shadowbox.css">
                <script type="text/javascript" src="shadowbox.js"></script>
                <script type="text/javascript">
                Shadowbox.init();
                </script> (End quote)

                I've done that, and made sure that my .css a .js paths were correct. However, the error messages say that neither jquery nor shadowbox is defined. How do I do that? Told you I was clueless! :)

                Here are links to several pages that I have used it on:

                Swarovski Accent Options

                Swarovski Rhinestone Veils

                Those pages include single images, galleries, and videos that have shadowbox included.

                Just checked, now working again. Could it just be a loading time thing as well?

                  For all of you "code challenged" individuals like myself, who may come across this problem, a very nice guy in tech support (Dan C.) told me to add:

                  <script type="text/javascript" src="assets/templates/common/js/jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script>

                  above the shadowbox stuff, and all of my errors disappeared, so I think that did it! :) Thanks to everyone here for there help as well!
