  • Automate Dropship Web Interface Order Entry

Does anyone know of a software or app that can automate semi complex data entry on a website that requires several tiers of navigation to complete order entry? We have a supplier that will dropship individual orders for us, but all they have is an online catalog interface. We have to use a search box to find each line item by part number, add to cart, click checkout, enter on separate lines the customer name, address, city, state, zipcode, and order number, then click submit. We are looking for a way to automate this process through some kind of scripting program or app that can login to their secure website and run these functions with order data that we input somewhere or feed from FTP. Any ideas would be welcome!

Life must be great for you if you can't spare the whole five minutes it must take to do this, yourself. Hire a VA to do it for you if "wasting" time on an order is this burdensome.

Rather snotty response, Scott McKirahan. Since you're a new user, I'll let you know that most of our members are much more helpful, rather than critical.

This is for a large number of orders to be entered each time so it is difficult to hand enter them all. We do hand enter them now, but it seems that this could be automated to save time.

Scott McKirahan 5 minutes per order spread out over hundreds of orders a week that have to be handled like this really eats up a lot of time. My question deserves no such response and was posted here because it is something we actually need to help handle our daily workload. Anyone ever tell you if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all? Move on next time and don't bother adding your useless input.

That's telling him, shopgirltx! I only wish someone could come up with a good method for you. That's a lot of manual entry.

cwnoah Thanks for your support. I wish so too. We have tried a lot of different things, but so far nothing has been what we needed. We want to develop a custom app to handle this, but haven't found a developer for it yet. Developer recommendations are welcome btw!

shopgirltx Dunno if it will work for you, but we've found iMacro to be a very powerful plugin/extension for both FireFox and Chrome. It allows you to automate navigation and data entry on websites.

You can create a spreadsheet or CSV file for your order, and setup iMacro to read that file and enter the data on the appropriate screens/fields for your order entry.

Alupis we have been using that, but it doesn't have enough capabilities to handle the complexity involved. There are too many variables that come up during the process that would require something more custom. iMacros isn't the fully automated solution we are looking for. Thanks though! It does help speed up some things like address entry.
