  • Restrictive Shipping

For those using the Restrictive Shipping app - I'm wondering what a customer is presented with when they add items to their cart - some of which are shipped direct from our store using, say FedEx or USPS, and also order a drop-ship item that uses UPS Ground. What is the picture they are seeing on the cart/during checkout?

Hi Birdsafe, I am bumping this thread because I am still in the Shipping wormhole myself right now. I "think" the Restrictive Shipping Module may solve my problem, but there is very little information available about how to use it. I'd love to be able to see it in action. Did you buy the module?

My situation is that I utilize Drop-Shipping merchants. I carry no inventory myself. I am still complete startup and am making almost no sales yet, and I can't push forward until I resolve this shipping issue.

All of my products are drop-shipped from various Merchants. This means that the customer unfortunately has to pay for separate shipping if the Order contains items from more than one Merchant. But that's unavoidable, for now. When I get as big as Amazon ;) I will be able to do a lot more for the customer in relation to shipping.

One of my Merchants sells very lightweight wooden hair combs and wooden Christmas ornaments. When she ships them herself, it costs $1 to mail the envelope via USPS. The least amount I can charge using Real-Time shipping calculation is $3.66 because it is considered a parcel. I don't want to charge the customer that amount.

I need to be able to charge $1 and have it done by weight so that it keeps track of how much the whole group of those items weighs and not charge $1 for each, although even that would be an improvement over what I have now.

        Thanks! ... Connie Z

Could you put a minus amount in the shipping mark up? We do not have that setup, but I played with it a bit and it seems to work. Just a thought. I think you would have to put ship by itself, as it would take off the amount for each of those items they put in the cart, I would think.

Thanks so much for the idea Pack Secure! I will do some experimenting. It would be great to have that kind of control.
