  • Moving from Volusion

    Hello folks,

We're moving over to 3D from Volusion & I was just curious if there were many that have done the same?

If so, how have you found it?

3D looks good so far. It has many features that we have been after for quite some time & we are looking forward to the change!

A number of things have caused us to switch.

      1) The much heralded new release was a flop in our opinion. Any new features that would benefit our site now were minimal to none. Features, that I might add, are already in 3D & have probably been here for a while.

      2) We feel their server issues are very concerning. Since moving from RackSpace to their own servers, site owners appear to have been experiencing major issues with downtime, lost orders, etc. We've had email troubles & had to switch our email servers.

I would think that after the holidays there will be more leave Volusion.

Question for 3D Cart: Have you been experiencing a greater number of new signups for your demo cart over the last 2 to 3 months (the last couple of weeks in particular).

*Note. All of this is only my opinion & should be taken as such.

Whew! It was a toss up between Volusion and 3d when we moved from Monstercommerce--looks like we made the right decision!

I was very happy with Volusion until they moved our store to their in-house server this summer. I am sure they will eventually work out the kinks involved with running their own data center. I am just not willing to risk our Q4 sales while they do OTJ training.

We've been monitoring uptime for some of our competitors on several different platforms - and the 3DCart store has consistently been 100%! I'm looking forward to getting the new store up and running!

It would probably be unique to each store owner, and we had been with Volusion for years, but we just couldn't sit around and wait for the features that we needed. ie...auto generated quantity discount price tables, more product page flexibility. The Volusion server issues were the final straw...slow site...lost emails...etc.

You should see the comments in their customer Forum...but you can't because they made it private. Probably a good thing...for Volusion.

Monster did that same thing when people started bailing and complaining on the message boards. They even went so far as to ban search results for the names of 3dcart and others.

Ditto. There have been a few issues here and there, but Monster had become lost and useless. Honestly, I haven't even tried looking elsewhere- the SEO and features are WELL worth the money at 3DC.

Same here! I've been with 3d for 2 years, and have been completely happy. I was just migrated to the new cart a couple of weeks ago, and except for one or two very small issues, it was the easiest transition ever. Tech support is heads above any other company that I've ever dealt with. Do they always understand what I'm getting at initially--not always, but we eventually get on the same page and issues are resolved quickly.

BTW, I LOVE the new cart's features!

                            Yes, very reassuring.

Thanks for your input folks! :)

First off, I want to welcome you to 3dCart and thank you for trying us out.
Secondly, I'd like to answer your question and give you a bit of insight into how we perceive e-commerce hosting.

Over the past few months, we have increased staffing because we started to see an influx of not only demo customers, new accounts, but also new customers looking to migrate from their existing providers. We take advantage of this by listening to our customers and trying to make sure that we do not make the same mistakes that caused them to switch in the first place.

Volusion has a great cart and they offer some software features that we do not currently offer, and in the respect, there is obviously some things that we do better than they do. We put our focus on the customer experience and make sure that our software is the most user friendly and has the features that directly support the bottom line. We get a significant amount of customers via word of mouth and unlike some of our competitors; we are not focused on growing the customer base and pleasing a list of investors. We're focused on being the best e-commerce solution out there, with the best customers, and the best team we can find.

                              Sincerely,

                              Robb Muise | E-Commerce Specialist
