  • Migration from Americommerce

Posting to see if anyone on the forums has made the move from Americommerce to 3D Cart? I found a few past posts from one person, but it appears he's long gone or no longer in business.

Also found one post about Shopify > 3D, but not much more. Just curious to know if anyone else has made the move and if so how was the move / migration?

Interesting that you brought this up. I just got an unsolicited email from them.

I am 3DCart loyal, so not planning on moving.

I'm still considering the move, but as we know moving from one web store provider to another isn't a small task...!

What other shopping carts, if any, did you consider? What do you hope to gain by switching to 3dCart?

No others for the most part "fit" to well, but several have been considered and 3D was the # 2 choice years ago. Americommerce (AC) has fallen behind the times as far as technology and they don't seem to want to get up to speed. The enhancements and improvements they do make seem to be for a select few and do not benefit the mass of their merchants.

I'm an Enterprise level customer and need many of the integrations that 3D offers, AC basically refuses to do it. So, to answer you ?, I hope to have a robust web store platform that has what I consider up to date integrations and better support. AC is known to have mediocre support and it's no fault of the people that actually do the support, it's just the way that the company functions.

Did you consider Magento? If so, what are your thoughts?

It was discussed, but the amount of support needed is beyond what we're looking for at this time. Cost is also an issue for Magento, not only start up cost(s), but ongoing costs.

We have looked at other web hosts. We have found them all to have + and -. 3DCart is a nice solution for most of our needs.

Were you looking at Magento Enterprise or Magento Open Source? Can you be more specific about the type and amount of costs?

Didn't get that far, as we aren't looking for something that has to be constantly supported from an internal IT standpoint as already mentioned.

As pack secure mentioned, the goal was to find one SaaS store provider / platform that is "close enough", has the integrations needed, and can help lead us back to growth and the future.

Any recommendations on who to use for design and/or migration for a medium to large sized store? Our order and customer database is quite large and will need to come with us. I've read through the reviews @ the 3D cart main site, but would like input from anyone that's been through this move?

                          I've used
                          https://www.shopping-cart-migration.com/
                          They did a good job

just don't send them credit card numbers if you have them in your database

I moved 4 stores to 3dcart from various non 3dcart platforms. The standard migration services never worked out for me. We literally had to "scrape" some of the sites.

I ended up posting the jobs on freelance job sites.

That's not to encouraging, Chris!! We have way to much data to do it any other way, at least from what I've found out thus far.
