  • Dynamic link to Browse By Manufacturer?

    We like the browse by manufacturer feature. However, we would like the resultant hyperlink to be configurable in an href on the product page. Example, we display the manufacturer's logo via: img src=[manufacturer_logo]

    We would also like to build an href link into that image displayed above to all that manufacturer's products, such as the browse by manufacturer link is built. is this possible?
    Thanks in advance. :)

    Has anyone figured this out? I would like to use this with some js to dynamically open my size chart based on the manufacturer.

    Thanks ~ Cristy

      How about make use of an available extra field.
      Sort your csv file by manufacture and plug them in.

      Then be sure to fill in that field for new products.

      Can't incorporate the [manufacturer_name] to auto populate as the form uses an ID number unless you add more weight to the page by adding the extra code to replace with the ID number. Then having to update that code as new manufacturers are added.:mad:

      I think it may be easier to just use a available field if you want that function and very easy to remove from all should that feature come along down the road.

        Sorry I worked out the back end and forgot the code.
        Here you go
        Code:
        <div class="item" align="center"><a href="[extra_field_?]"><img src="[manufacturer_logo]"></a></div>

          This is the code that I have on my PS product detail page that I am trying to replicate on my 3dcart to access my size chart via lightbox.
          Code:
          <a href="$storeVersion.images[$string.concat($product.OEM,'_SizeChart.jpg')]" rel="prettyPhoto[sizeChart]">
          	View Size Chart
          </a>
          Are you suggesting that I use [Field_5] in place of $product.OEM, ?? Just want to make sure I understand before I start screwing around with it :D

          Thanks for your help!
          Not sure how 3dcart would handle the spaces but I would try:
          Code:
          <a href="assets/images/default/[manufacturer_name]_SizeChart.jpg" rel="prettyPhoto[sizeChart]">
          	View Size Chart
          </a>
          If not then replace the [manufacturer_name] with [extra_field_5] and add the needed name in that field without spaces and be sure to remove the [extra_field_5] from below the description.

          Note: You may also need to remove the text in settins>design>Store Language (extrafield5)

          Hopes this helps

            Go Live,
            Thanks for trying to help. Your suggestion for my size chart worked, however to link to a manf. search via extra field didnt -- just provides a broken link. Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

              Great glad to hear you got it to display. I wasn't sure how 3dcart would respond to the tag [sizeChart] for your pretty lightbox.

              I can't see your results but it will work dynamically. There is something your not doing. Rethink it through and make the results display the URL that you need.

              We rewrote the PS exclusive $code to work in this environment now I know you can make it work. Your going to have to tinker with it.

              Have a good day!
