  • Trying to use image for "add to cart" & "buy" buttons.

    I want to use images for buttons instead of the text-type that exist in our template. I've used the info from this knowledgebase link:
    How Do I Change The Default 'Add To Cart' Button?

    I've checked and rechecked that all instances have been accounted for in each iteration of the templates requiring the change (_0, _1, _2, etc). The problem is that the button shows up fine for the product listing, but I cannot get any of the category buttons to appear. They remain the text-type button. The code syntax is an exact copy/paste from the article with the only change being to the directory/file, which is identical to the product list template which works great.

    I'm using a new 3.2 template apparently (V32022), so I wonder if that's the issue?

    Anyone else implement this change?

    I ran into this problem also but it is a simple fix. In your category temple you will need to replace (ALL) of the current "add to cart" coding (I had 4 or 5) with what is specified in the knowledge base. Here is the catch, there are (I Believe) 2 other "add to cart" pieces of code in the template that start with (<input type=yada yada) those you also need to replace with the string they give you in the knowledge base ie. <a href="add_cart.asp?quick=1&item_id=[catalogid]"><img src="pathtoimage.jpg" border="0"></a>

    I wish I could tell you what lines they are but it is more than likely different than my template, and this was a couple of weeks ago. Hope this helps.

      A few months ago, I called tech support for the same thing. They changed it for me in literally less than 10 seconds. I was pretty amazed. I was browsing tonight for a feature for my website and noticed something that might be the solution for you. In SETTINGS>DESIGN>STORE LANGUAGE there is a field under "category" called "buyitlink." The path to my "add to cart" image was placed there (I know I didn't do it) so maybe that's what it is. It reads:

      <img src="http://yourstore.3dcartstores.com/assets/images/buy.gif" border=0>

      I hope that helps! And please let me know if it does or doesn't, I'm curious now...

        Anyone know which template file drives these things for the "list products by manufacturer" pages? Changed to buttons for everything; however, the product listing by manufacturer is just a simple text link now.

        Would that category page, and those "<input type="button"..." type references be driving that? I had changed them all per the above to get the category page to show them.

        Edit... The home page "featured" items still retain the normal text box "Add to Cart"...so that's another one to figure.

          Thanks to live chat! For future reference, search_group.html is the file to edit if you're replacing the default "add to cart" text with a button. You use the Category Page specific directions for the string to insert. Same applies to home.html.

          Now to format those manufacturer pages so they don't look like a jumbled mess (the template default). ;)

            Hmmm... I wanted to change mine but the only thing in buyitlink are the words Add to Cart. Nothing shows at assets/images/buy.gif - says file not found.
