  • Image Resizing / Renaming / Thumbnails / Watermark / Uploading

    Hello all.
Just wanted to share a little something with the 3DCart Community.
We just arrived and we figure we're gonna be here quite a while. (hopefully)

When we started working on our site we thought the image resize was gonna be a godsend, unfortunately, it would work on some pics but not on others and it was tough, especially when you're uploading thousands of images and names using csv upload.

We found a solution that works for us and hopefully you...

We use FastStone Photo Resizer ( A FREE Tool ) to resize our images to our own preset dimensions to make thumbnails. You can even add a watermark, if you like.
You can get this great free tool from the following trustworthy url-
    http://download.cnet.com/FastStone-P...ml?tag=mncol;2

We then use File Renamer Basic ( A FREE Tool ) to rename our images (thumbnails) to our own preset name. We add _thumbnail.jpg to our image name(s).
You can get this great free tool from the following trustworthy url-
    http://download.cnet.com/File-Rename...ml?tag=mncol;1

We then us FileZilla ( A FREE Tool ) to upload our image(s) to our predetermined image folder via the FTP.
You can get this great free tool from the following trustworthy url-
    http://filezilla-project.org/
    or
    http://download.cnet.com/FileZilla/3...ml?tag=mncol;1

Finally after the images are uploaded, we simply enter the image url(s) in the csv under image and thumbnail heading.

This has not only saved us a lot of time but our site looks a lot more professional now that our images are uniformally sized and watermarked.

We sincerely hope this helps some of you out there.

    Happy Building / Selling.

    Best regards,
    papa

I use BIMP lite -- which will resize AND add watermarks AND add a suffix or prefix (_thumbnail). Also will bevel the edges and some other stuff that I dont use. Progrm is also FREE and very easy to use!
