  • Background Color of Best Seller

    I am pretty much all moved in, and everything went very well. Time consuming, but it is mostly done. One last thing that I can't figure out.

    I have changed all the colors most everywhere but I can not figure out how to change the color of the Top Seller background. I don't know what it is called and I can't figure out how to change it.

    Help please:)

    1. Download and install Safari.
    2. Turn on Developer Tools
    3. Open site and explore the element you want.

    It will give you a starting point to search for.

    I'm pretty sure it's in this path.
    Settings>Design>Themes and Styles>edit Look and Colorscss>Advanced Mode

    /*top-sellers-star:: Controls the background image and style for the top ranking item star.*/
    .top-sellers-star {
    width: 30px;
    height: 20px;
    background: url(../images/bg-top-item-star.png) no-repeat;
    position: absolute;
    top: -15px;
    left: 100px;
    padding: 13px 19px 23px 19px;
    font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    font-size: 18px;
    font-weight: bold;
    color: #FFF;

      I have discovered I can look at the elements in Chrome too. I see the image: bg-top-item-star.png listed, but where do I find the image to change. I don't see it in ftp. Am I looking in the wrong place?

          Look at the red text. This is your background. The template is calling for the image as your background. You can use any style for the background. Remove the url call, and only the url call part.

          You can look up information on what you can and cannot add to the background string.

          <td height="264" align="center" style="background:url(assets/templates/v32010/images/bg-top-item.png) no-repeat center;"><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">

            Your text and pricing really get lost on that color.

                Lettering is coming out more. The green is still a little blended. Try a shade or two darker or a step up in font size if it doesn't affect the overall text size. The text size on the name is a nice size.

                  The pale purple text on the white background is REALLY hard on the eyes. I have to strain to see the text clearly. It sure could use some darkening to make it more readable.

                    And your images.... oh dear. For example, look at the images on this page:

                    SALE

                    You see the difference on how so many of them looked "washed out" and you can't see them clearly versus other pictures further down the page where the pictures seem to pop out at you with vibrancy and color? People want to be able to see what they're looking at and those washed out images just aren't doing those clothes any justice. :(

                      I just realized this. That is one wide website. You need to try to move some of your page links down to the bottom or trim the font size back a bit.

                      I agree with piaf, you need to darken the text a bit, It has sort of a washed look.

                        Thank you Piaf for your input. Maybe some others could chime in here. On my computer the images are not faded at all, other then pale pinks are hard to photograph.

                        I am light sensitive and the blue is very easy on my eyes. Any other opinions would be helpful, a middle ground would be a nice place to be.

                          David, it is this template width. I have another website using this template and I know someone else who uses this template and it is even wider. It is just wide.

                          Thanks for the input on the colors. Keep in mind my audience, people with infants in critical care and babies, babies, and babies. Colors are usually softer, but I agree it has to be comfortable to all.

                            Templates that do that drive me nuts. My opinion on them. I just don't want to have to keep moving the page around. You could get it to squeeze in a little with a smaller font and then bold it for visibility.

                            Just so you know 3D has a funny interpretation of color names sometimes. If possible always use color hex numbers. There universal and pretty explicit.

                            Download a free copy of CoffeCup html editor. It's great for playing with code and colors. You can get the hex from the code after you choose colors by sight.
