  • Two Category Frames

    Hi Everyone,

    Trying to get our stored design finished up so we can open shop. Got a quick question regarding the Category Frame.

    The template we chose has the Category Frame as a javascript menu across the top of the page. However, we also want to have it appear in the left bar like in some other templates.

    I modified the Frame.html file and inserted the following code in the left bar section of the page:

    Code:
    <!--START: FRAME_CATEGORY-->
    <table width="195" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
      <tr>
        <td class="mod_bg"><div class="menu-headers">[frame_categories]</div></td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
        <td class="mod_bg"><table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
            <!--START: CATEGORIES-->
            <!--START: CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
            <tr>
              <td><a href="view_category.asp?cat=CATID" class="cat"><strong>CATEGORY</strong></a></td>
            </tr>
            <!--END: CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
            <!--START: SUB_CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
            <tr>
              <td><a href="view_category.asp?cat=CATID" class="subcat">CATEGORY</a></td>
            </tr>
            <!--END: SUB_CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
            <!--END: CATEGORIES-->
            <tr>
              <td><img src="assets/templates/[template]/images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="20" alt=""></td>
            </tr>
          </table></td>
      </tr>
    </table>
    <div><img src="assets/templates/[template]/images/modDiv.png" width="173" height="1" alt=""></div>
    <div><img src="assets/templates/[template]/images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="8" alt=""></div>
    <!--END: FRAME_CATEGORY-->

    Even though the code was correct, it was not working. I then looked at the top of the page and found the code that creates the Javascript menu.

    Code:
    <!--START: FRAME_CATEGORY-->
        <ul id="dd_menu">
            <!--START: CATEGORIES-->
            <!--START: CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
            <li><a href="view_category.asp?cat=CATID">CATEGORY</a>
            <!--END: CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
                <ul>
                    <!--START: SUB_CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
                    <li><a href="view_category.asp?cat=CATID">CATEGORY</a></li>
                    <!--END: SUB_CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
                </ul>
            </li>
            <!--END: CATEGORIES-->
        </ul>
        <script type="text/javascript">
            var dd_menu = new Spry.Widget.MenuBar2("#dd_menu", {
                  widgetID: "dd_menu",
                  widgetClass: "MenuBar  dd_menuFullwidth",
                  insertMenuBarBreak: true,
                  mainMenuShowDelay: 100,
                  mainMenuHideDelay: 200,
                  subMenuShowDelay: 200,
                  subMenuHideDelay: 200
            });
        </script>
    <!--END: FRAME_CATEGORY-->

    If I remove this code from the top of the page, the code that I inserted into the left bar works fine.

    So basically, it is either one or the other. Is there a way to have the Category Frame in two places within the page?

    Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    No. it will only populate the first set of code within the commented tags and will ignore the rest.
    Code:
      <!--START: FRAME_CATEGORY-->
    .
    .
    .
    <!--END: FRAME_CATEGORY-->

      Ok....that's not good. I appreciate your help though, thanks!

        You can use two, unfortunately one will have to be a different script (and not dynamic). Here is an example of a site I did long ago thats been sitting around with 2 Print Advertising

        Unfortunately still won't help ya though if you want both dynamic

          We have our categories listed top and bottom (Trailer Parts - Boat Trailer Parts, Trailer Wheels, Trailer Tires, and Custom Boat Trailers) however we inserted them in the top menu manually. Just thought I'd mention this option.
