Hi! I opened my site materialaddict.com about 9 months ago. We generally get between about 200-500 views per day. I've noticed my conversion rate is very very very low. We have 4% of viewers adding to cart, 10% of the 4% checking out. But the overall conversion rate is .46% (checkouts divided by all visitors). I'm told conversion average between 2-3%. Very troublesome! Is there anything you see on the site that would lead to such a low conversion rate or make the site non user friendly? I'm open to any and all critiques!

You have LOTS of unsecured items on your "secure' pages... people will get warnings in some browsers that your site is not secure. I ran a page on "Whynopadlock.com" and this is what I saw:
Total number of items: 21
Number of insecure items: 8

All you need to do is make these links relative (take out your domain ... and just put "/cs.jpg" for example.
If you want to add something like mcafee secure badge, (there is a fee) to show PCI compliance, change all your links that lead to a secure page to https:// and check with support to make sure you are on secure ftp (if you use it) and you should be compliant and show the badge.Last edited by leberhar; 04-14-2012, 01:44 PM.

But Whynopadlock.com came up with a warning. Any suggestions?

I checked in Safari and Firefox, and both say you're secure... maybe your browser is showing a cached page.
Having said that, you should see an increase in conversions of people who've put items in their carts. Consider bringing the ones that abandoned the cart back with a coupon code.
Also, look into getting the McAffee badge... also, you might want to try doing FiveSecondTest ... you display a screen cap of your product page or cart (any page, really) and ask questions, like why they might not feel secure, what might be missing, etc. We've gotten great results from that. If you participate in other tests, you get credits for other random people to take yours. No more than 20 people and you should get a good idea of what might be missing, etc.
