  • Pulling in sub categories

    I've seen this done on other 3dCart sites, so I know it is possible, but I haven't been able to figure out how.

    Currently to generate categories and subcategories you use these tags:
    <!--START: FRAME_CATEGORY-->
    [frame_categories]
    <!--START: CATEGORIES-->
    <!--START: CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
    <!--END: CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
    <!--START: SUB_CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
    <!--END: SUB_CATEGORY_FORMAT-->
    <!--END: CATEGORIES-->
    <!--END: FRAME_CATEGORY-->

    However, how to do you get to categories within a subcategory?

    So, for instance - if I have the following structure:

    Primary Category
    Sub Category
    Sub-level cat 1
    sub-level cat 2

    My menu, if I use the code above will go to:
    Primary Category> Sub Category

    but there is no way to get to the next sub-level dynamically.

    Anybody been able to figure out how to do this?

    Dynamic sub cats is only allowable down to one level dynamically through 3dcart. If you want your menu to show multiple levels it cannot pull the sub-categories dynamically, and you must create your menu manually.

    Anyone that shows multiple levels (past the first) has built their menu manually and doesn't pull dynamic category information.

      3dcartdesigns, I don't see that you offer a dynamic category menu on your site. Do you have any plans to do so?
      We use a multi-level category menu provided by 3dcart, however it has a really big footprint and uses lots of bandwidth. A light and quick alternative is in order.

        They are all single drop level dynamic. I have to add the other images, the ones that are shown are a secondary option, but still completely dynamic. The menu with all cats across the top will work just like the one on my site. All dynamic, all CSS and very lightweight.

          Still very confused. Do you offer a multi-level (nested categories three or four deep) dynamic category menu?

                LOL... No I don't offer dynamic css menus past the first level of sub-categories. 3dcart does have supporting tags for anything past the first level sub-cats.
