Has anyone purchased the Responsive Theme Upgrade from 3D Cart?

What are your thoughts and opinions?

What was the time frame form completion?

If you have not purchased it are you considering purchasing it?

    Thanks in advance.

We're considering it after we release our new design. It's almost done, so the conversion to responsive will have to wait a little while longer.

      Responsive Design

I think it is critical that all web stores incorporate responsive design asap. I am working on one, but may end up using one of the 3d designs for now. I have checked out my site on several mobile devices. I didn't like it on all but one. The increase in mobile traffic for me is growing at 10% - 15% per month. Conversions with mobile phones is pathetic; tablets is twice the mobile figures. It is time to address this quickly. The cost to convert will pay for itself in a short window.

Is there a link to this conversion service? I couldn't find it on their app store site.

I got an email from them. Just check with your sales rep.

We got an email from our sales rep. and I spoke with her on the phone. She emailed a proposal for our site.

Haven't got a quote yet because I'm trying to wrap up the other design project first.

UPDATE: So far we are already running into complications. They are saying that our Premium template might not look the same when they make it responsive. They are saying the picture, description and options may not be laid out the same, perhaps even being off centered or staggered. I am no expert but to pay all this money and not know how it might look is kind of concerning.

I am waiting for a supervisor to call back now, as the project managers are not able to take phone calls.

Ok, I talked to a different sales rep. apparently the original rep. was not explaining herself very well. My partner and I both spoke with her and could not get a direct answer on how it might look. The way she explained it, it might be staggered and/or not properly centered.

The other rep. stated that it will go back to the default template, which makes sense.

Thank you for the updates and congratulation on making the leap to responsive.
Here are my two cents worth,
We had our site designed by 3dcart a while back. We were happy with the final product.
                        My points are:
                        1. Sales are just that. Sales. For design issues you need to talk to your team lead.
                        2. You have to make decisions on everything, and request whatever design and functionality features you would like. From my experience, if you don't ask, you don't get. You need to think through your site and make a very long list of what you would like, going into detail of design and functionality features. It is good that you have been with 3dcart for a while, so you know what is all available. When we had our design we were new to the platform and were very confused as to what is possible and there was no hand holding. You are in the lead, and you are finally responsible for what the end result will look and function like.
                        3. Make sure to check everything. W3C compliance, functionality on different browsers, etc.
                        4. Ask for the PSD design files and keep them in case you need to change some graphics etc.

Thanks for your input, the sales person would not let me talk to the lead designer. She told me that they do not get on the phone.

I would validate the "not allowed to talk to your assigned lead designer." Is that during the sales cycle or during the actual project?

As a rule of thumb, if you are not allowed to work with your lead designer one on one, walk away. Having an intermediary creates a level of ambiguity and rework that you will quickly get frustrated.

I completely agree. To a non-professional designers like many of us, the only way to convey what we want is to try to describe a general look and feel of the site we want. It is hard to write that down or to convey it through a third party. Having a discussion with a professional designer where there is give and take, probing and clarification is the only way to reach the end result we have in mind.

One helpful way is to surf the internet and take screen shots of things you like, little effects, colorways, certain shading, button effects, menu layouts, backgrounds etc, and create either a pinterest page, or some other sort of catalog. This will go a long way to helping the designer get a feel of what you want.
