  • Tricky Product Options Using Two Groups

I want to give my customer the option of
    A) Factory Order - Lower Price
    B) Stock Order - Higher Price

But each group has it's own options as well:

    A) Factory Order
    Red - $ 100
    Green - $ 100
    Blue - $ 100

    B) Stock Order
    Red - $ 120
    Green - $ 120
    Blue - $ 120

    ------------------

The base price is $ 0.00
Only when the customer selects an option will the price be greater than zero.

Unless I make each option group "Required", it is possible they could add an item to the cart with a zero dollar value.

I want them to make one selection from one of the groups.

    ------------------

    SOLUTION #1

I could just combine both groups into one, and make it a required option using radio buttons.

    Factory Order Red - $ 100
    Factory Order Green - $ 100
    Factory Order Blue - $ 100
    Stock Order Red - $ 120
    Stock Order Green - $ 120
    Stock Order Blue - $ 120

But some products have about 8 options and you end up with a God-awful mess that looks downright nasty.

    ------------------

    SOLUTION #2

Add a "NONE" option to the choices:

    A) Factory Order
    NONE
    Red - $ 100
    Green - $ 100
    Blue - $ 100

    B) Stock Order
    NONE
    Red - $ 120
    Green - $ 120
    Blue - $ 120

But this solution comes with its own problems too. Even if I make the default selection NONE for each group, the customer could still add an item to the cart with a zero value.

    ------------------

I'd like to force the customer to make a selection that adds value to the base price, not sure how to go about it however.
