  • State reverts to Indiana in checkout

Is there anyway to keep my checkout page from displaying Indiana as the state whenever the page refreshes? No matter if its changed, if the page refreshes, such as a shipping method change, returning from Paypal, the page changes the State to Indiana. This has caused many issues and so far I havent found a fix.

Also, if you clear the address by using "new address" under the drop down box, it clears all fields except the State, which always shows Indiana.

That's weird. First thing I would try is to replace your template file with the common/unmodified version and see if it does it.

Store setting, clear cache? Did you try that? I know that sometimes when our site seems to bug out that often helps.

I have tried to revert back to the original version of the checkout page and it doesnt help. I have noticed this same function on other 3dcart sites so it appears this is just how the cart worked and was hoping someone else noticed it and had a solution.

Example, Pack Secure, I tested your site and it does the same thing there. I click New Address and the fields clear except the State.

This is a problem for us, and has been for years, because we do a lot of dropshipping and often times, customers do not notice the state doesnt update they send in their orders, we catch it while trying to print the shipping label and have to correct it using a google search on the city and zip code.

Its a definite bug that 3D needs to address.

Also, Pack Secure, not sure if you know it but when you are logged into your website, the links across the top get messed up. They drop down into the white section of the page and you cant see them, and you have a large orange bar that is blank.

I guess I overstated this issue. I completely confused Support who agreed, yes, Indiana shows when you log in but doesnt show when I create a new account using a different state. Then closed the ticket.

The issue here isnt that "Indiana" shows up in the State field. I used that as an example.

The issue here is when you clear the address field, either Billing or Shipping (or both), all the fields clear EXCEPT the State field. It keeps whatever state was showing before the fields were cleared.

This causes orders shipping outside of the customers billing address, such as dropship orders, to come through with the incorrect state on them.

I can't speak to your specific case, but I know we get some International orders with Alabama as the State. I have ran across threads in this forum in the past mentioning this.
I don't know what causes it, or how to fix it.

Support replied again and they said this is the normal function of the cart. I was told customer will just have to remember to change the state. That makes zero sense.

There is no way this is normal. I have never been on a website where all the fields changed except the state.

Why would the state field not changing be "normal"? Above the list of states there is a blank. It should resort to that.

How do I get someone else to look at that ticket? I dont think this guy understands the issue.

This is the #1 complaint with our checkout. It needs fixed.
