  • Something odd with frame.html

    I was checking the W3C compliance of my site, and ran into a weird issue with frame.html.

    My frame.html file has this code:
    Code:
    <div id="FRAME_SEARCH" style="float: left;">
    <!--START: FRAME_SEARCH-->
    <div id="searchBox">
    <form>...</form>
    <div class="clear"></div>
    </div>
    <!==END: FRAME_SEARCH-->
    </div>
    When I checked this in the W3C compliance site, it said that there was a duplicate FRAME_SEARCH id, so I looked in the google dev tools and found code like this:
    Code:
    <div id="FRAME_SEARCH" style="float: left;">
    <div id="FRAME_SEARCH">
    <!--START: FRAME_SEARCH-->
    <div id="searchBox">
    <form>...</form>
    <div class="clear"></div>
    </div>
    <!==END: FRAME_SEARCH-->
    </div>
    </div>
    I do not know how it is adding the extra <div>, nor how to remove it. I did message 3dcart but they typically reply with "we don't support html" 12-16 hours later.

    Any ideas?

    Squeegee79 Change your initial id to something else. The 3dcart tag <!--START: FRAME_SEARCH--> dynamically generates its own <div id="FRAME_SEARCH"> to wrap the search area which is how the duplicate is created.

    for example, change:

    <div id="FRAME_SEARCH" style="float:left;">

    TO:

    <div id="search-wrap" style="float:left;">

    In turn you can instead remove <!--START: FRAME_SEARCH--> and <!--END: FRAME_SEARCH--> These just allow the block to be show or hidden via the modules section.

    Be sure to clear cache and refresh after any changes. Hope this helps.

      Oh, very cool. I didn't know that was what the START and FINISH were for. Thank you very much for that information.

        Squeegee79 You still need to be careful with the 3dcart tags, some trigger functions. Only a few are plainly for showing/hiding

          thecartdesigner Yeah, I went with renaming the first one. That seemed the least likely to break something else. Thanks again.
