  • Alt Text for images

    On my prior cart, we were able to list alt text for every photo. Using our primary keywords, this seemed to help a lot with our ranking. I can't seem to find where I can add that in 3d--I do see where I can put a caption, but not actual alt text, so if the photo doesn't display the text will show up instead. Almost all of my investigations agree:

    "Optimizing images is becoming more and more important in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for websites. The ALT attribute is a critical step that is often overlooked. This can be a lost opportunity for better rankings."

    Anyone know how to do this with our current 3d cart?

    are you using Dreamweaver or something to edit, or just the 3dcart design software? Because you can do this in Dreamweaver but I don't think you can directly on 3dcart.

      No, I'm actually talking about the product views, not necessarily the pages. On Monster Commerce, for each product picture there was a box for adding alt text. That is probably the ONLY thing I miss about them, but it was very helpful. If it could be added to 3d I think it would help all of us :)

        alt text

        I read that Target was sued because they didn't provide Alt messages for the images on their site. They said it had to have it so its accessible to people with disabilities. I have also read that google was trying to improve their reading of alt test when they crawl sites.

          I didn't check, but, an ALT text for the images would be a nice feature.....

              One of the SEO optimizer scans of my website said I would be rated slightly lower since my images didn't have height and width measurements. :confused:
              Has anyone heard anything about that?
              Seems kind of tedious to do that for every image.:eek:

                alt text

                Hello all,

                Don't know if this will help you but this is how I got alt text to show up on my pictures:

                <a href="product.asp?itemid=[catalogid]">
                <img src="[THUMBNAIL]" alt="[name]" border="0"></a></td>

                Just place the [name] block code in the alt= section and it will show your product name. Not so good if you are looking to add keywords, but works for what I needed.

                John

                  Thanks, John! I'm in the remedial code class :), so can you tell me where you would post this:

                  <a href="product.asp?itemid=[catalogid]">
                  <img src="[THUMBNAIL]" alt="[name]" border="0"></a></td>

                  Does it go into the template? If so, which one?

                  Thank you!
